Maria Gabrys-Heyke, piano
Chopin / Mendelssohn / Liszt / Paderewski
The Polish pianist combines extraordinary stylistic versatility with the highest degree of tonal sensitivity. Through her studies in Lucerne and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, she has close artistic ties to Switzerland. Prized for her subtle pianistic sound painting, she is currently the youngest professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where she heads a class for historical piano instruments as well as the Department of Early Music
and Harpsichord.

The ensemble traces musical paths across the Alps and opens up a new perspective on the music of around 1650. The focus is on the lively exchange between Italy and the cultural centers north of the Alps—driven by musicians who traveled, often on foot, under life-threatening conditions through an environment still largely defined by wilderness.
